Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Economy and Finance officially launched the Electronic System for the Issuance of Administrative Documents for Public Procurement (SECOP) this Monday, aiming to enhance service quality by integrating peace of mind, transparency, and simplicity into the process.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of Public Procurement Control, Alfred Thiombiano, emphasized that SECOP was specifically designed to assist service providers in obtaining administrative documents related to public procurement. "With SECOP, it is no longer necessary for the service provider to travel from one administration to another to request administrative documents in order to participate in public procurement," he stated.
The launch of SECOP is a part of the government's broader national strategy to digitize public services. This initiative is set to improve service quality for citizens and economic partners. Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubacar Nacanabo, highlighted that SECOP allows public procurement bidders to obtain all necessary administrative documents swiftly and without physical travel, as long as they comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
To ensure service providers can effectively use SECOP, the Ministry of Finance has implemented three support systems: training sessions, informational video capsules, and call centers situated in Ouagadougou and Bobo. A demonstration during the launch event provided participants with an opportunity to become acquainted with the system's interface and functionalities.
Minister Nacanabo expressed his gratitude to his colleagues, including Minister of Digital Transition Dr. Aminata Zerbo-Saban© and Minister in charge of Infrastructure, Adama Luc Sorgho, for their support in operationalizing SECOP. He encouraged all stakeholders in public procurement to fully embrace SECOP and contribute to its ongoing development and improvement.
