Banfora: The National Identification Office (ONI), collaborating with Cascades regional authorities, has rolled out the inaugural edition of a special initiative titled "I have my CNIB before going to the field" in Banfora. This project aims to issue the Burkinabe National Identity Card (CNIB) to rural populations, addressing their challenges in accessing ONI services due to their remote locations.According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative is designed to manage low attendance at registration centers during the agricultural season when many are engaged in fieldwork, and to decentralize ONI services. The operation will span the national territory until the end of July 2025, utilizing CNIB production centers in Fada N'gourma, Tenkodogo, Kaya, Ouahigouya, Dédougou, Koudougou, Gaoua, Bobo-Dioulasso, Banfora, and Ouagadougou.Arzouma Daouda Parfait Louré, the Director General of ONI, emphasized the significance of the CNIB as a document essential for access to fundamental rights and services, such a s education and healthcare. He stated that facilitating CNIB access for rural populations fosters a more equitable and inclusive state, enhancing citizen security amidst current national challenges.
