Pacis TV Shines at Meeting of Catholic Television Directors in Africa and Madagascar

Nairobi: The continental meeting of Catholic Television Directors from Africa and Madagascar was convened in Nairobi, Kenya, bringing together representatives from numerous countries, including Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Malawi. The event, which ran from November 24 to 28, 2025, featured significant contributions from German partners and the Vatican Dicastery for Communication, represented by Sr. Nina, a Communication Specialist.

According to African Press Organization, Pacis TV played a prominent role at the meeting, showcasing its recent achievements, strategic projects, and opportunities for collaboration on both continental and international levels. The channel also led several key segments, underlining its influence in the realm of Catholic media. His Excellency Bishop Bernardine Mfumbusa, mandated by African bishops to coordinate communication within SECAM, delivered the opening session on behalf of His Eminence Fridolin Cardinal Ambongo.

The meeting highlighted several critical themes, such as the need for diocesan communication expert training, avoiding competition with secular media, enlightening society with truth, and strengthening ties with Catholic celebrities and influencers for communal benefit. Notably, the Catholic Television Network Service for Africa Project was presented by the Dicastery for Communication, Bishop Mfumbusa, and the CRTN/ACN team.

A special focus was given to the participation of three Rwandan priests, Fr. Patrice, Fr. Jean de Dieu, and Fr. Damien Kimenyi, who are currently studying at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Their attendance at Pacis TV's presentation underscored the importance of integrating academic formation with the Church’s media mission.

SIGNIS International provided an update on its upcoming Kigali International Meeting scheduled for August 2026. This event aims to enhance the digital media presence of Catholic institutions, develop artificial intelligence tools and influencer databases, and address communication gaps within several episcopal conferences.

The meeting concluded with a recognition of Pacis TV's leadership in the African Catholic media landscape. Mr. Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, CEO of APO Group, praised the channel for its growing visibility, professionalism, and strategic impact across the continent.
