Patriotic Initiative Sees Over 10,000 Plants Take Root in Dori

Dori: The Secretary General of the Sahel region, Mr. Auguste Kinda, inaugurated the "Patriotic Hour to Green Faso" initiative in Dori, marking the beginning of a large-scale tree planting operation. This event, which took place at the regional directorate of Water and Sanitation of the Sahel, saw the planting of 250 seedlings as part of a broader effort to combat deforestation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative is spearheaded by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, and aims to plant 5 million trees nationwide within an hour. This environmental campaign seeks to engage Burkinabe citizens in tree planting and maintenance, thereby contributing to the restoration of the country's vegetation cover.

Mr. Kinda emphasized the dual threats of security and climate crises that are impacting communities, highlighting tree planting as a vital act of resistance and hope for a shared future. He invoked an African proverb to underline the significance of this effort, urging the people of the Sahel region to actively participate in creating green spaces in various settings.

Mr. Dramane Fogo, the regional director of the Environment, announced plans to plant 10,000 medicinal plant species across Dori in both public and private spaces. Meanwhile, the Citizen Movement for the Safeguarding of the Dori Pond has pledged 200 trees, as confirmed by its president, Mr. Abdoulaye Maga, who encouraged community members to ensure the survival of these new seedlings.
