Dori: The head of the collective of economic actors of the Sahel, Hamidou Dicko, presented to the governor of the Sahel region, Abdoul Karim Zongo, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Dori, a statement of payment to the regional treasury, of the sum of 5,677,601 CFA francs, representing their share of contribution to the patriotic support fund.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the mobilization of this sum constitutes the Sahelian economic world's response to the appeal of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©. Hamidou Dicko, head of the Sahel region's economic actors' collective, noted that this gesture symbolizes their determination and patriotism. It aims to support peace efforts and accompany the nation during this challenging period, he affirmed.
Mr. Dicko expressed confidence that through collective commitment and unwavering solidarity, the people of Burkina Faso will overcome the current insecurity crisis. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to continue mobilization through collecting contributions from Sahelians in the diaspora and organizing cultural activities.
The Governor of the Sahel region, Abdoul Karim Zongo, expressed gratitude to the region's economic players for their financial contribution to the patriotic support fund. For him, this gesture demonstrates that the economic actors of the Sahel understand the necessity for each Burkinabe citizen to contribute towards resolving the security crisis facing Burkina Faso.
Mr. Zongo encouraged continued mobilization and contributions in other areas, particularly in fostering collaboration between the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), volunteers for the defense of the homeland (VDP), and the civilian population.
