The president of the organizing committee of the 8th edition of the Paxsahel Prize, Kowoma Marc Doh, announced Thursday that applications for the competition for the best journalists covering conflict-related topics, Conflict-Sensitive Journalism (JsC), are admissible from October 11 to 20, 2024.Application files for the 8th edition of the Paxsahel Prize can be submitted online at www.pashahel.com or physically at the headquarters of the Réseau d'initiatives de journalistes (RIJ) located in Ouagadougou, from October 11 to 20, 2024, informed the president of the organizing committee, Kowoma Marc Doh, also secretary general of the Network.According to the president, this prize is open to journalists from the three AES countries, namely Burkina, Niger and Mali in three categories, namely television broadcasting/Mojo, radio broadcasting and written press/online press.Doh, during a press briefing, explained that this competition aims to reward media people who have demonstrated professionalism in the treatm ent of information related to conflicts. According to him, the journalistic productions in competition must be broadcast between October 1, 2023 and October 10, 2024, and respect a certain number of conditions, in particular the JsC criteria.Television and radio productions must last between 6 and 26 minutes. For the written press, the article must be at least 2 pages and a maximum of 5 pages and between 800 and 2,000 words for the online press, he added.The awarding of the best works in the three categories is scheduled for December.As a reminder, the RIJ is a Network that encourages journalists to practice journalism committed to the search for sustainable solutions for peace, social cohesion and development through the project "Support to the media for the prevention and management of conflicts in Burkina Faso".Source: Burkina Information Agency
