Entebbe: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni recently engaged in discussions with an Egyptian delegation led by Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty at State House Entebbe. The meeting focused on strengthening business ties between Uganda and Egypt, with the Foreign Minister extending greetings from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. A significant proposal from the meeting was the establishment of a joint Egyptian-Ugandan business council to foster investment in key sectors such as construction, energy, and pharmaceuticals.
According to African Press Organization, Dr. Badr highlighted the potential for joint ventures facilitated by a new financing mechanism established by Egypt to support development in southern Nile Basin countries. Dr. Badr expressed his honor in conveying President al-Sisi's well-wishes and emphasized the importance of creating a business forum for exploring investment opportunities and mutual benefits.
Dr. Badr also acknowledged President Museveni's leadership and his vision for Africa, especially in the realms of Pan-Africanism and South-South cooperation. The discussions further focused on enhancing economic cooperation by promoting investments across various sectors, including energy, security, and digitalization.
