President of Faso Participates in 8th ALG Conference via Videoconference

Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAOR€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬°, participated in the 8th ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Liptako-Gourma Integrated Development Authority (ALG) via videoconference. This session, held under the chairmanship of Army General Abdourahamane TIANI, President of the Republic of Niger and current President of the Conference, also saw the participation of Malian President General Assimi GOTA.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting aimed to review the ALG's activities and adopt structural measures related to the Confederation of Sahel States (AES). Key decisions included the transformation of the ALG into a Development Agency for the AES, maintaining its headquarters in Ouagadougou, appointing a provisional Administrator, conducting a preliminary audit, transferring current missions to the new structure, and setting a deadline of December 31, 2025, for finalizing the process.

The heads of state emphasized the importance of the ALG's transformation to enhance the effectiveness of development project implementations in the region. Malian President General Assimi GOTA highlighted the need for the ALG to adapt to geopolitical changes in the Sahel to fulfill its mission without creating additional costly structures.

The session called for concrete proposals from supervisory ministers and experts to redefine the ALG's institutional form and missions. The transformation aims to align with the Confederation's ideals and the aspirations of the populations for sovereignty.

The Heads of State reiterated their dedication to regional integration, collective sovereignty, and solidarity among the peoples of Liptako-Gourma. The session ended with a commitment to expedite the resolutions' implementation.
