Progressive and Popular Revolution: Zorgho’s Youth Called to Be Relays

Zorgho: The Ganzourgou Provincial Directorate of Youth and Employment organized a panel discussion on Friday in Zorgho on the topic of the Progressive and Popular Revolution (RPP). This activity is part of the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC), 2025 edition.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, instituted in 2023 and first celebrated from March 26 to April 9, 2024, were developed in response to a noticeable decline in national values, creating a fertile ground for societal challenges. This was emphasized by Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou province, during the panel's opening remarks aimed at the youth of Zorgho.

The event witnessed the presence of the Secretary General of the province, Harouna Karambiri, the presidents of the special communal delegations (PDS) of Zorgho and Zoungou, and numerous young attendees. In her address, Ms. Sorgho/Gouba conveyed a message from the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, urging the citizens of Burkina Faso to intensify efforts in work, vigilance, anti-corruption measures, and the protection of public property as vital steps to overcome insecurity and achieve national sovereignty.

Bruno Ouedraogo, the provincial director responsible for youth in Ganzourgou, elaborated on the objectives of the panel which include embracing the ideals of the RPP, enhancing the sense of belonging, and promoting citizen participation. He mentioned that this event is part of a broader series of provincial panels initiated by the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment.

In his role as moderator, Bruno Ouedraogo addressed three sub-themes: "The ideology of the RPP", "The consolidation of the Confederation of Sahel States: role and responsibility of young people", and "Presidential reforms and initiatives". These discussions aimed to inform young attendees about current issues and encourage their active participation in civic life.

The High Commissioner encouraged participants to act as messengers to their peers, while Valentin Badolo, the PDS of Zorgho, praised the strong participation and expressed hope that the youth's commitment would contribute to the success of the patriotic commitment days.

Ms. Sorgho/Gouba concluded by praising the event as a "fruitful framework for exchanges, reflections, and concrete proposals," highlighting the role of youth as an essential pillar in reclaiming territorial integrity and national sovereignty. She reaffirmed the readiness of administrative authorities to support initiatives aimed at strengthening citizenship and national sovereignty.
