The tenth edition of the Andreï Stenine International Competition for Young Photographers is open to all photographers in the world, including those from the African continent. Photography professionals aged 18 to 33 are invited to submit their applications until March 15 on the website: https://stenincontest.com/'Ten years after the disappearance of Andreï Stenin, the Sputnik photo correspondent, killed in Donbass during an attack by the Ukrainian army, the tenth international competition bearing his name began on December 22 in Moscow,' announced the head of the Andreï Stenin competition, Oksana Oleinik.This event, organized by the Rossiya Segodnya news agency under the aegis of the UNESCO Russian Affairs Commission, celebrates the talent of young photojournalists.She stressed that the high level of expertise of the photographers invited to be part of the jury, as well as the growing public interest in the competition in the cities and countries where the winners' works are presented, testify to the r eputation of the 'event.This year, something new was introduced with the 'View from Above' category, giving participants the opportunity to explore never-before-seen perspectives through a variety of shooting devices, from traditional cameras to modern drones.'The unusual nature of the shots and subjects is the main criterion for evaluating the photos participating in the new nomination,' added Oksana Oleïnik.As for the other categories 'News', 'My planet' and 'Portrait. Heroes of our time', two subcategories will be evaluated: single photo and series of photos.On the other hand, the 'Sport' and 'View from above' nominations will only feature individual photos.According to her, the site presents a new, more functional and user-friendly design, which emphasizes photography, its energy, its universality as a modern means of communication'We look forward to the works of this new edition of the competition and wish all participants victory,' she added.Photography professionals aged 18 to 33 are invi ted to submit their entries until March 15, on the competition website in Russian, English and Mandarin in the different categories.The winners of the competition will have exhibition opportunities both in Russia and in foreign countries.They will also receive 125,000, 100,000 and 75,000 rubles respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category.The winner of the Grand Prize, the highest distinction of the Stenine competition, will receive 700,000 rubles 4,644,104.50 CFA francs.'The Stenin competition is an event on the international photography scene: it is awaited, debated and a source of pride,' said Ms. Oleïnik.The competition aims to support the new generation of photojournalists while drawing attention to contemporary issues in photojournalism.Source: Burkina Information Agency
