Ouagadougou: The final of the 4th edition of the Fraternity Cup football match, played on Sunday at the Kaya Municipal Stadium, saw Nongodo FC defeat Olympic FC, marking revenge for the losers of the previous edition. An event hailed for its spirit of fair play and its role in social cohesion in the region. Beaten in the final of the 3rd edition, Nongodo FC came back stronger to win against its rival Olympic FC. In front of an enthusiastic crowd, the Nongodo FC team won the final played on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Kaya Municipal Stadium with a score of 3 goals to 0.According to Burkina Information Agency, Olympic FC coach Didier W. Ouédraogo expressed his thoughts on the match, saying, "The children played, but there are often days like this. We will prepare better for other challenges," while congratulating the Nongodo FC team. On the other hand, Nongodo FC coach Rasmané Kargougou, known as Kanouté, was visibly delighted and commented, "This victory is the result of a well-prepared derby."The firs t prize, which was claimed by Nongodo FC, included a trophy, two balls, a set of jerseys, and a financial envelope of 100,000 CFA francs. Olympic FC, as runners-up, received a set of jerseys, a ball, and a financial envelope of 75,000 CFA francs. Both teams' players and coaches were also honored with medals, along with special prizes for the most deserving players and teams.The edition's sponsor, Moussa Zamtako, commended the fair play displayed by all competing teams, emphasizing that the competition's aim of promoting fraternity had been largely achieved. He highlighted that this event contributed to strengthening the unity among the region's people.Competition promoter Hamado Compaoré, known as Tagui, and president of the Regional Union of Kuilsé Stallions Supporters, expressed satisfaction with the competition's outcomes. He underscored the positive impact of sport in fighting terrorism by fostering cohesion and fraternity among populations.A total of 15 matches were played during this 4th edition, with 51 goals scored, including 22 by Olympic FC. Notably, no red cards were issued, showcasing the fair play throughout the tournament. The event, chaired by the governor of the Kuilsé region, attracted significant personalities and delegations from the region and beyond.
