Application files for the fourth edition of the scientific research excellence award will be received from September 16 to October 15, 2024 at the General Directorate of Research and Innovation, AIB learned on Friday.The Minister in charge of Higher Education and Research, represented by his technical advisor, Benoît Joseph Bationo, launched the 4th edition of the scientific research excellence award on Friday.The scientific research excellence award is a biennial one which rewards individually or collectively the work of teacher-researchers working towards the progress of science and the socio-economic development of Burkina.According to the technical advisor to the Minister in charge of Higher Education and Research, Joseph Bationo, the general policy of the government is to encourage quality research producing results on which Burkina Faso can count for its development.This is why, he continued, the government has instituted the scientific excellence award to pay tribute, individually or collecti vely, to teacher-researchers who strive to meet the real challenges of Burkina Faso, rather than serving other countries.For the Director General of Research and Innovation, Serge Diagbouga, the particularity of this edition of the excellence award is that it will cover four areas: science and technology, legal, political and administrative sciences, economic sciences and management, as well as literature, languages, arts and communication.Apart from this, the conditions of participation, prizes and selection criteria remain the same, in accordance with the requirements of decree no. 2017-1186/PRES/PM/MERSI of December 4, 2024, indicated Mr. Diagbouga.The Night of Excellence will be organized at the end of December 2024, and application files will be expected from September 16 to October 15, 2024 at the Directorate General for Research and Innovation, informed the director.To be eligible for the excellence awards, the work in competition must belong to one of the 8 prize-winning scientific fields, be new, original and have a real or potential impact on the development of the country.As a reminder, two types of prizes are awarded per field: the prize of excellence, consisting of a certificate, a trophy and an envelope of 10 million FCFA, as well as special prizes of one million FCFA.The candidate must be an actor in the scientific community, of Burkinabe nationality or resident in Burkina Faso, and present a work dating back less than 10 years.Source: Burkina Information Agency
