Sissili: The province of Sissili celebrated the National Tree Day in the presence of the Regional Director of Water and Forests of the Nando region, the Provincial Director of Water and Forests of Sissili, Mr. Karim Y€š¬…¡¬°Y€š¬…¡¬°, as well as the active forces and members of the constituted bodies. This activity was chaired by the High Commissioner of the province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, more than 1,000 medicinal plants have been planted in a two-hectare grove, in response to the President of Burkina Faso's call for the "One province, one medicinal plant grove" initiative. The High Commissioner assured that all measures are being taken to ensure the maintenance, growth, and sustainability of this grove.
He made a vibrant appeal to the population: "Whether you are a farmer, a shopkeeper, a student, a civil servant, or a head of household, you have an essential role to play. Together, let's protect our biodiversity, strengthen our health and climate resilience, and ensure a sustainable future for future generations of Sissili."
For the 2025 campaign, the province plans to plant more than 200,000 plants through individual and collective plantations, in forest developments, farms, homes, as well as in medicinal groves at schools.
This initiative is part of the national reforestation policy with a particular emphasis on medicinal plants, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the region.
