Catholic faithful in the town of Tougan in Sourou province commemorated on Friday, August 15, 2025, the Assumption or Ascension of the Virgin Mary into heaven under the sign of the definitive return of peace and security to Burkina.

He indicated that the commemoration of the Assumption symbolizes the grace bestowed upon the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Ballo explained that the Assumption is a significant mystery for the Church, representing the grace granted to the Blessed Virgin Mary to ascend to heaven with her body and soul.

Father Ballo also addressed the mission, glory, and honor achieved by the Virgin Mary through human and spiritual efforts in his homily. He emphasized that the faithful should embrace the sufferings inherent in humanity and combat them with the strength of God, far from evil and violence.

S©raphin Ou©draogo, a faithful Catholic, expressed his wish for peace in Burkina Faso through this commemoration. He hopes for peace to be restored to the province of Sourou and for harmonious living to be revived for the happiness of the entire population.

The parish of Tougan was established under the patronage of Our Lady of the Assumption in 1927, marking its foundation.
