Tayebwa Urges Private University Lecturers in Uganda to Prioritize Groundbreaking Research

Kampala: Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, has made a call to action for private university lecturers in Uganda to prioritize groundbreaking research to maintain the quality of university education. Tayebwa made these remarks while officiating at the 5th graduation ceremony of King Ceasor University in Bunga, Kampala on Monday, 05 May 2025.According to African Press Organization, Tayebwa emphasized the importance of research in distinguishing universities from secondary schools and stressed the need for unique solutions to local problems through innovative research. He also pledged government support towards private universities, recognizing their role in complementing governmental efforts to enhance access to university education.Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Chairperson of the University Council, announced the institution's plans to expand its academic offerings to include postgraduate degrees and doctorates. He highlighted ongoing efforts to establish partnerships with other universities to facilitate the transf er of skills and knowledge, thereby improving the quality of education.University Chancellor King Ceasor Mulenga encouraged graduates to remain open-minded in their job pursuits, emphasizing that education equips them with versatile skills that can be applied in various fields. Meanwhile, Kampala Archbishop, Rt. Rev. Paul Ssemogerere, advised the new graduates to value justice and integrity over fame and warned against the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse.The graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of 280 students who received Bachelor's degrees and Diplomas across a range of disciplines, including Medicine, Nursing, Business Administration, and Oil and Gas, showcasing the diverse educational opportunities provided by King Ceasor University.
