The African Book Festival of Marrakech (FLAM) constitutes a suitable opportunity to reflect on a new universality from Africa, underlined, Thursday in Marrakech, the university teacher at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Marrakech, Hanane Essaydi.'It is important today to reflect, in a spirit of openness, on the future of humanity from the South to which we belong, but without excluding any partner or interlocutor,' explained Ms. Essaydi, one of the four co-founders of FLAM, in a statement to MAP, on the sidelines of the kick-off ceremony of the 2nd edition of this major cultural event.While emphasizing that "the future of humanity is a horizon that remains to be built with the participation of all without the exclusion of any partner", she indicated that the FLAM allows authors from the African continent and those from its diaspora, to meet on African land and discuss the issues, problems and challenges to be faced, particularly in a context marked by the rise of hatred and divisions in toda y's world.'We are going through a pivotal time and we have a project to build the Africa of tomorrow, based on our common strengths and the values of mutual knowledge and acceptance to build the future together,' she continued, highlighting the central role of young people within the framework of this project.At the same time, she explained that the FLAM aspires to reconcile young people with books and reading, while making them discover the richness and diversity but also the dynamism of this literature emanating from the continent, and which is disseminated throughout the world, with the contribution of all African authors who are an integral part of this global dynamic.A true meeting bringing together writers, thinkers and intellectuals from Africa and its diasporas, FLAM was founded by Mahi Binebine (writer and visual artist), Fatimata Wane-Sagna (journalist), Hanane Essaydi (academic) and Younès Ajarraï (cultural entrepreneur).Supported by the 'We Art Africans' association, FLAM aims to be an elo quent celebration of African literature and culture.For this second edition of the festival, the programming offers themes inscribed in the scientific and editorial news of Africa, its diasporas and devotees a particular place to the reactivation and consolidation of memories and unwavering links which unite all Africans wherever they are.Source: Burkina Information Agency
