Koudougou: The special municipal delegation of Koudougou presented its management report for the period 2023-2024 to the key forces of the municipality last Saturday, as stipulated in the texts, in terms of accountability.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this exercise, the third of its kind, takes place in a national context marked by a persistent security crisis, highlighting the commitment of the deliberative body and the municipal administration. Established since June 20, 2022, the special delegation has chosen to submit to this first accountability exercise, in accordance with the requirements of the General Code of Local Authorities of Burkina Faso.
The objective of this review was to inform the population about the management carried out, gather their expectations, and strengthen their involvement for real socio-economic development of Koudougou by 2030. The Secretary General of Boulkiemd© Province, F©lix Ouedraogo, who moderated the event, emphasized the importance of this framework for citizen dialogue, urging for courteous and constructive exchanges.
In attendance were representatives from 10 sectors and 22 villages, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, customary, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, along with citizen monitoring associations. The president of the special delegation, Am©d©e Par©, presented a report structured around three strategic axes, aligned with the vision "Koudougou 2030".
The first axis focused on institutional reform and the modernization of the administration, showcasing advancements such as the development of the 2025-2029 Municipal Development Plan (PCD), promotion of good governance through live broadcasting of council meetings, capacity building for municipal officials, and the establishment of Village Land Commissions for better land management. Regular consultation spaces were also developed, and administrative equipment was acquired, with a total of 136,480,875 CFA francs raised for these actions.
The human capital development axis underscored significant actions aimed at improving basic social services, including health infrastructure projects, the strengthening of public health campaigns, and substantial investments in youth education and training, requiring an investment of 2,075,222,207 CFA francs.
The third area, concerning the revitalization of growth sectors of the economy and employment, yielded significant results. These included support for agricultural producers and local cooperatives, local crafts and trade, and the promotion of decentralized cooperation partnerships with cities such as Dreux, Melsungen, and Assisi. Social investments, including sponsorship and schooling for more than 300 children, were also made, with actions under this area mobilizing 394,338,398 CFA francs.
In total, the special delegation mobilized 2,606,041,430 CFA francs for all activities. Am©d©e Par© praised this collective performance and urged civic engagement from all Koudougou residents to face future challenges and ensure the prosperity of the commune.
The population expressed satisfaction with the efforts made despite a challenging context. However, concerns were raised about issues such as the lack of a decent communal cemetery, recurring land issues, the need for enhanced educational and health infrastructure, and a desire for greater youth involvement. The President acknowledged that these concerns reflect the population's desire to actively partake in Koudougou's development.
This third accountability day was a democratic exercise in transparency and co-construction, enhancing dialogue between the municipality and its citizens for a resilient, equitable, and prosperous Koudougou by 2030.
