Burkina faso: Traders at the large market in Ouagadougou contribute nearly 5 million FCFA
Traders at Rood Wooko, the main market in the Burkinabe capital, supported the Faso Mªbo Presidential Initiative (PI) on Thursday with sand, cement, and aggregates worth nearly 5 million CFA francs for the country's development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the traders' donation, consisting of 40 tons of granite, 40 tons of sand, and 35 tons of cement, amounts to 4 million 407 thousand 500 CFA francs. "We came to Faso Mªbo this morning to respond to the call of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, regarding the Presidential Initiative, which concerns all Burkinab©," said Sayouba Sawadogo, the traders' spokesperson.
Mr. Sawadogo also invited other market traders and Yaars to support Faso Mªbo in achieving its desired objectives in terms of sanitation and urbanization. According to him, traders remain available to support the Presidential Initiative for the construction of Burkina Faso.
The dapoya Naaba Tanga of Nomgana, for his part, welcomed the creation of this initiative by the authorities to develop Faso. He also stated that the traders will one day return to support Faso Mªbo in its work. The women's representative of Rood Wooko, Zalissa Niki¨ma, also urged the capital's traders to follow their example and make the Presidential Initiative a success.
"We hope that God will empower the people of Burkina Faso to contribute to Faso Mªbo," she said. Seizing the opportunity, the Association of Water and Forest Retirees donated a ton of cement, 20 tree seedlings, and 20 gates valued at approximately 150,000 CFA francs.
Launched in October 2024 by the Head of State, Faso Mªbo aims to modernize national infrastructure and promote rural and urban isolation.
