Ouagadougou: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, His Excellency Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, met with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Burkina Faso, Ms. Carol Flore-SMERECZNIAK, to discuss strengthening the partnership between Burkina Faso and the United Nations. The meeting provided an opportunity to review development actions undertaken by various UN agencies in the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, discussions also focused on two upcoming international meetings. The Conference on Financing for Development is set to take place soon in Seville, Spain, where Heads of State and Government will discuss enhancing investments in developing countries. Another significant event is the World Food System Conference, scheduled for July in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where Burkina Faso aims to promote its policies and actions for food sovereignty.
Furthermore, Ms. Carol Flore-SMERECZNIAK highlighted the opportunity these conferences offer to attract new investors. Discussions also included the anticipated high-level visit of UN officials to Burkina Faso, an announcement welcomed by the Minister. HE TRAORE expressed gratitude for the UN's continued support and achievements benefiting local communities and encouraged alignment with national priorities.
He reassured that necessary arrangements would be made for Burkina Faso's effective participation in these international meetings, emphasizing the importance of such platforms for showcasing national policies and fostering new partnerships.
