Dakar: The Minister of Economy and Finance of Burkina Faso, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo, was appointed on Monday as the President of the statutory council of ministers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), the institution informs.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Nacanabo was selected by his peers following the conclusion of the third ordinary session of the council, which took place at the BECEAO headquarters in Dakar. He takes over from Adama Coulibaly, the Minister of Finance and Budget of Cote d'Ivoire, and will serve a two-year term as stipulated by Article 11 of the WAEMU Treaty.
