The winner of the 2024 presidential election, Pezeshkian was previously the deputy (for 5 terms) and vice-president (2016-2020) of the Islamic Assembly and the Minister of Health (2001-2005).Massoud Pezeshkian, trained doctor and Iranian politician, was born in 1954 in Mahabad (northwest of Iran).He had previously registered twice to run for president, but in 2013, before the names of those qualified were announced, he withdrew in favor of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.In 2024, this heart surgeon was elected as the 9th president of Iran with 16,384,403 votes.For his election campaign slogan, Pezeshkian chose the term "For Iran" and declared that he will achieve "justice" and "unity and cohesion" in Iranian society.Source: Burkina Information Agency
