Women Empowerment: Go PAGA Foundation Plans to Train 250 Women in Income-Generating Activities

-The Go PAGA foundation intends to equip 250 women from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and civilians who fell or were injured in the service of the nation following the launch, Thursday in Ouagadougou, of a training program in pastry making, sewing, hairdressing and saponification in 4 cities of the country.Scheduled to take place in Ouagadougou, Kaya, Koudougou and Fada N'Gourma, the 3rd cohort of the training targets 250 women from the FDS and civilians who fell or were injured on the field of honor, indicated the president of the foundation, Fadima Kambou/Ouédraogo."This integrated program will enable the socio-economic empowerment of women in difficult situations," said Ms. Kambou during the launch of the foundation's training center this Thursday, September 12, 2024 in Ouagadougou.According to her, in addition to the women of the FDS and fallen and wounded civilians, this year, the program will extend to orphans and street children and the bakery will be integrated into the training with mo re practice on 8 sites of the foundation and partner centers.The initiative benefits from the financial support of a local bank which presented a check for 100 school scholarships to 40 women for hairdressing and 60 women for sewing."Training in pastry making and saponification begins from September 16, 2024 for a period of one month. Sewing and hairdressing begin at the end of September for a period of 9 months, with at its end, the examination to obtain a Professional Qualification Certificate (CQP)", underlined Ms. Kambou.Fadima Kambou/Ouédraogo specified that the 250 beneficiaries of the program were selected according to the criteria of the ministry in charge of humanitarian action which prioritizes vulnerable groups.The president of the foundation also invited all stakeholders to promote women's productions for better visibility of their actions.The representative of the Minister in charge of humanitarian action, Palamanga Ouoba, praised the Go PAGA foundation for the initiatives it develops f or the empowerment of women.For him, the program shows that the permanent quest, the promotion of solidarity and the commitment to people in need are a matter for all Burkinabè.Mr. Ouoba concluded his speech by indicating that the ministry supported the foundation through the identification of beneficiaries, through its decentralized structures and intends to continue its support for the foundation with several other actions.Created on February 13, 2021, the Go Paga association has become a Foundation to broaden its scope of action.
