WOODAN FC Triumphs in Maracana ‘Social Cohesion’ Tournament in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou: WOODAN FC emerged victorious in the 2nd edition of the Maracana 'Social Cohesion' tournament, held in the Samandin district of Ouagadougou. The tournament, organized by the Faso Beogo Yinga association, aims to foster unity, dialogue, and solidarity among the Burkinab¨ community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final match saw WOODAN FC clinch the title after a tense 2-2 draw with National FC, eventually winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout. WOODAN FC received 50,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, a ball, and the trophy, while National FC was awarded 30,000 FCFA, a set of jerseys, and a ball. The teams finishing third and fourth each received 10,000 FCFA.

Souleymane Tindimba, Vice-President of the Faso Beogo Yinga association, praised the tournament's success, emphasizing its role as a symbol of unity among Burkinab¨ citizens. He expressed support for the Defense and Security Forces and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, acknowledging their sacrifices for the nation's freedom and peace.

Tindimba also urged cultural and sporting figures to engage in promoting President Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©'s vision of sovereignty, dignity, and social justice. He highlighted the importance of using social media to spread the ideals of a popular and progressive revolution, emphasizing collective national ownership and the prioritization of general over individual interests.

El Hadj Mahamadi Zoungrana, the sponsor of the event, echoed the call for unity and social cohesion as essential elements for a united and prosperous Burkina Faso.

Mahamoudou Ou©draogo, president of the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations, encouraged other organizations to undertake activities that promote social cohesion and revolutionary ideals.

The event also featured a blood donation campaign for the fighting forces and various recreational activities, including a p©tanque final.
