Kaya: The Regional Directorate of Humanitarian Action and National Solidarity of the Centre-North commemorated the 35th World Children's Day on November 27, 2024, in Kaya. The event provided an opportunity for childhood advocates to pledge their commitment to the development of children.According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration featured musical performances, theater, stories, recitals, and traditional dances. Organized by the Regional Directorate responsible for humanitarian action, the event brought together childhood advocates and children from diverse social backgrounds, supported by UNICEF, under the theme "Listening to the Future."The theme was chosen to emphasize the significance of listening to the voices of children and young people in the face of contemporary challenges. Mrs. Bernadette Adenyo/Serme, secretary general of the region representing the governor, stated, "Children constitute an important segment of the population; they occupy an essential place in our society. All effor ts must therefore converge towards improving their well-being." She affirmed the administration's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote children's development.Children participated in radio broadcasts, entertainment games, awareness sessions, and public statements to advocate for a coordinated approach to ensure they have the resources needed to reach their full potential and contribute to a prosperous future for Burkina Faso.Awards were given to primary and post-primary students for their outstanding participation in an advocacy writing competition focused on child development. Universal Children's Day, established in 1954 by the United Nations, is celebrated every November 20 and aims to promote action for children by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
