Zondoma/Reforestation 2024: More than 90% Survival Rate Recorded

Zondoma: More than 90% of the seedlings planted in 2024 survived in the Tangzougyargo school grove, AIB noted on June 16, 2025. It was the Tangzougyargo school in sector 4 of Gourcy which hosted the official launch of the National Tree Day (JNA), 2024 edition in the province of Zondoma.

According to Burkina Information Agency, on this occasion, 200 seedlings, mostly fruit trees, were planted. To date, this grove, maintained by the school's teachers and students, is looking good. "Out of 200 seedlings planted, only 17 did not survive; which gives a survival rate of over 90%," said the provincial director of the environment, Abdoul Kader Zongo, who took the opportunity to congratulate the teachers and students for the great interest they showed in these trees.

For the upcoming reforestation campaign, the teams of the Zondoma provincial environmental directorate are working hard to ensure the success of the reforestation operations. According to the provincial director, on a 6.5-hectare site acquired, 2 hectares will be developed for reforestation. Furthermore, he indicated, a medicinal grove will be created this year in accordance with the vision of the country's authorities.

To this must be added the holding of the "patriotic hour to green Faso" which will take place on June 21. It should be noted that the province of Zondoma will host the regional launch of the 7th edition of the National Tree Day (JNA) in the coming days.
