The Association Monde Rural (AMR), in partnership with the Sahel Community Recovery and Stabilization Project (PCRSS-Burkina), launched a training session on photovoltaic energy for 50 young people from the North region on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 in Gourcy. After the young people from the Sahel, it is the turn of those from the Northern region to benefit from training in solar kit installation and maintenance techniques. The launch of the activity took place on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the town hall of Gourcy, in the presence of beneficiaries recruited from among internally displaced persons and host populations from the project's partner municipalities in the North region, namely: Arbollé, Yako, Gourcy, Ouahigouya, Thiou, Barga, Namissiguima, Titao and Ouidigui. For the National Coordinator of the AMR, Amadou Wangré, this initiative, which is in its second edition, has generated particular enthusiasm.According to him, hundreds of requests were registered during the registration phase, which, according to him, demonstrates the relevance and merit of the activity."Each participant will receive a complete installation kit at the end of the training," said the coordinator, who hopes to see these young people take up the energy challenge in their localities, some of which are, according to him, without electricity due to insecurity."In our quest for sustainable and accessible energy solutions, photovoltaic energy is clearly the most suitable solution," said PCRSS national coordinator Boulaye Sanogo. According to him, "this clean energy stands out for its many advantages, including its reduced environmental impact, its sustainability and reliability, as well as its contribution to the local and national economy through the development of new skills and the creation of new professional opportunities."To mark his satisfaction, Mr. Sanogo congratulated the facilitating partner of the PCRSS, AMR, for the efforts made in the implementation of the project. Before officially opening the session, the Se cretary General of the Zondoma province, Anatole P. Kaboré, on behalf of the High Commissioner, welcomed the vision of the project and particularly this initiative to train young people in solar energy, which, according to him, effectively corresponds to the needs of the communities. This is why he invited the beneficiaries to follow diligently the lessons that will be given to them in order to "be ambassadors of the photovoltaic system in the region."During two weeks, participants will be trained through theoretical and practical courses on the techniques of installation, maintenance and development of photovoltaic systems. It should be recalled that the PRCSS is an initiative of the Burkinabe government, in partnership with the World Bank, whose main objective is to contribute to the recovery and development of communities affected by the security crisis in the Sahel, Centre-North and North regions.Source: Burkina Information Agency
