Kasserine ranks second in country for road deaths (official)

KASSERINE: The Kasserine governorate ranked second in the country in terms of number of deaths recorded in road accidents during the first quarter of 2024, according to Colonel Major Haithem Chaabeni, head of the Centre-West regional district for road safety. 65 road accidents were recorded in the region from January 1 to April 23, claiming the lives of 32 people, Chaabani said in a statement to TAP on Thursday on the sidelines of a working meeting of the regional road safety committee, noting that the Tunis governorate topped the list of victims with 37 deaths. The meeting was devoted to adopting immediate preventive measures, deterring offenders and improving the region's infrastructure. According to the presentation of national road accident statistics for 2023 made at the meeting, 223 road accidents and 47 deaths were recorded nationwide, with an increase in accidents involving taxis, light vehicles and motorcycles as a result of speeding. Speaking at the meeting, Governor of Kasserine, Ridha Rokbeni, said the number of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents in the region was 'alarming'. In the same context, the governor noted that there are numerous risk points in the Kasserine governorate that require a study and immediate action, in particular the installation of speed bumps and road signs. Rokbeni said the points studied showed that the accidents recorded in the region were due to speeding and over-speeding by taxis and light vehicles, as well as the failure of motorcyclists and their companions to wear helmets. The first session of the Municipal Consultation Framework (CCCo) of the municipality of Gourcy was held this Monday, April 22, 2024 under the theme, 'promoting the inclusion of young people and women in the development initiatives of the municipality of Gourcy: policy, programs and concrete actions'. Eastern Region: around sixty terrorists neutralized by the 19th and 20th BIR.

The 19th and 20th Rapid Intervention Battalions (BIR) have carried out two operations in the Eastern region in recent days which allowed them to neutralize around sixty terrorists and seize logistics, according to security sources contacted by the AIB. BIR 19 and 20 successfully carried out operations Kalari and Yilguemdé on April 22 and 23, 2024 in the Eastern region. On April 22, based on intelligence, air vectors discovered a base under construction in the Boungou area. Sightings show two groups under trees practicing weapon handling. All evening they were carefully monitored until 1 a.m. on April 23. The air operators sent a missile which wiped out the first group. Survivors tried to flee but collapsed further away. Meanwhile, the second group sought refuge elsewhere, but to no avail. A second missile reduced them to ashes. According to our sources, around sixty assassins have reached hell. On April 23, 2024, criminals launched an attack on a GUMI position in Yourkoudguin in the Center-East region . Very quickly, the air vectors arrived in the area and caught up with the assassins who had split into two groups to escape. A group believed they were safe in an abandoned hamlet in the Tiourel forest. But they were effectively struck down by several strikes. The second group of criminals nestled under trees and near a river in the Kabonga forest. A powerful bomb definitively resolved the fate of a large number of them. Their acolytes tried to rush in, but the strikes multiplied until they were annihilated. In addition to these successful operations, the Combatant Forces punished terrorists who regularly intercepted users of the Douroula-Yé road in the Boucle du Mouhoun region. Thus, on April 25, 2024 at around 11 a.m., a terrorist stopped a minibus while his group was installed under a tree not far from the road, unaware that they had been observed for a while. These criminals neither had time to rest nor see a missile fall on them. While they burned with their logistics, the minicar continued on its way. After the Boucle du Mouhoun, operations continued at Kéréboulé in the Sahel region. Air vectors discovered a large group of terrorists storing explosives and fuel. Their planning was interrupted by the rain of bombs that rained down on them. The fledgling terrorist base was reduced to nothing while operations continued in other areas.
