21st edition of the SNC: The Cultural and Tourism Development Fund offers 3 special prizes

Bobo-Dioulasso: The Cultural and Tourist Development Fund (FDCT), awarded three special prizes of one million CFA francs each, to winners this Friday, May 3, 2024. And this, on the occasion of the special awards ceremony at the 21st edition of National Culture Week (SNC). The 21st edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) closed its doors this Saturday, May 4 in Bobo-Dioulasso. As a prelude to the closing ceremony, the day of Friday May 3, 2024 was devoted to the presentation of special prizes during which several structures recognized the merit and talents of cultural actors. Among the latter, we must include the Cultural and Tourist Development Fund (FDCT), a partner of the SNC. This fund awarded three special prizes worth one million CFA francs each. The first prize in the culinary art category in heavy dish discipline went to Catherine Soulama from the province of Comoé. His red rice dish with sesame sauce won over the jury formed for this purpose. Ms. Soulama expressed her thanks to the FCDT for t he interest shown in the culinary art. The second prize awarded by the FDCT was won by Pouitba Ouédraogo in the plastic art category in painting with his work 'the reconquest and the rights of the people'. 'I am proud that my merit is recognized. I urge my fellow painters to work so that our culture develops,' the laureate suggested. As for the third prize, the FDCT has decided to reward the youngest who participate in this cultural biennial. And this is how the Eben-Ezer du Houet troupe which performs in traditional youth pool dance is the lucky beneficiary. According to the general director of the FDCT, Fiohan Caryne Traoré, the SNC being a celebration for the promotion of culture, its structure, in view of its missions, saw fit to support artists through rewards. She recalled that the fund is not in its first prizes, because it was in the 20th edition with three prizes as well. 'We wanted to diversify. Given our limited resources, we cannot support all artists at the same time,' she said. For the c hoice of traditional dance in a youth pool, it is a question, noted Ms. Traoré, of arousing the talents of very young people in the field of culture with a view to ensuring the next generation. Regarding painting, the general director thinks that it is a channel for transmitting the message that must be promoted because this discipline is little known to the general public. As for the reward for culinary art, it is an initiative which aims to promote local dishes, a value dear to the Burkinabe authorities. Source: Burkina Information Agency
