Ouagadougou: Affected by the death of a child, caused by the lack of light at the CMA of Zabré, the repairer and seller of mobile phones, Salif Silga, donated two ultra-powerful lamps, on December 18, 2023 to the audit Health center.
‘I have seen health workers suffer while searching for veins of a sick child by the light of their phone torches. Unfortunately, the child died. I couldn’t sleep last night [sigh]. This is what motivated me to buy these lamps during my visit to Ouagadougou in order to offer them to the CMA of Zabré (Boulgou, Center-East),’ he suggested with great sadness.
Upon receiving the two lamps, district chief medical officer Ahmed Koanda said he was very moved, regardless of the value. For him, it’s the gesture that counts.
‘A lot of children have unfortunately died because of this. Health workers sometimes work miracles with the lights on their cell phones to find patients’ veins. Salif Silga’s gesture delights me. I take advantage of launching an appeal to the valiant population of Za
bré; a simple pen can be used for the CMA,’ he admitted.
According to Mr. Kouanda, the lamps will immediately be allocated to pediatric and general medicine services.
As a reminder, Salif Silga is on his second donation. During the month of November, he offered marker pens to the CMA and the urban CSPS 1 of Zabré.
He wished the sick a speedy recovery and asked for their blessing in order to do better next time. He hopes other donors will follow suit.
