Actors involved in the implementation of PASEPA-2R in conclave in Yako

Yako: The Northern Regional Directorate of Water and Sanitation, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Water, organized on Wednesday December 20, 2023, an information and exchange workshop on the implementation of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Services Improvement Project to strengthen resilience (PASEPA-2R) in the Northern region.This is thanks to the implementation of the Project to Improve Drinking Water and Sanitation Services for Strengthening Resilience (PASEPA-2R) for the benefit of the 6 regions of the country, namely Center-North, the Center-South, the Center-West, the Central Plateau, the Sahel and the North, that the municipal, provincial and regional actors of the North met on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Yako, during a workshop information and exchanges on the said project.At this conclave of the Northern region in Yako, participants from the four provinces of the Northern region were entitled to three communications which were delivered by the regional director of water and sanitation of the Northern region, Alexis Farma.This was a communication relating to the presentation of PASEPA-2R, that relating to the presentation of the environmental and social safeguard instruments of the project. The last was linked to the distribution of drinking water supply (AEP), sanitation and studies works.These communications gave way to discussions and recommendations made by the participants. Chaired by the Secretary General of the Northern Region (SGR), Kuilga Albert Zongo, the objective of the workshop was, among other things, to discuss with the stakeholders concerned, on the modalities of implementation of the project, to present the list of works and their distribution, to collect the opinions and observations of regional, provincial and municipal officials in order to involve them more in the implementation of the project.Financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Burkinabe State, the overall cost of the project is estimated at 30 billion 001 million 860 thousand CFA f rancs. Its execution will extend over a period of 60 months starting in January 2023 in the regions concerned, which are in particular those affected by terrorism and climatic hazards.Ultimately, the project will make it possible, among other things, to ensure sustainable and equitable access to drinking water services for the benefit of at least 370,000 people and sanitation for the benefit of at least 100,000 people. , and to strengthen the resilience and adaptation capacities of vulnerable populations in the face of the impacts of climate change on water resources.The Governor's representative invited the actors involved in the implementation of the project to demonstrate participatory commitment around discussions.The Director General of Drinking Water, Seydou Sana, explained that the Project to improve drinking water and sanitation services was formulated by the Burkinabe State in connection with the financing potential of the African Bank of development (ADB). This project, he indicated, supports the Government's efforts to address the difficulties encountered in the context of security challenges, but especially to address issues related to climate change.'We expect all participants to have better ownership of the project to facilitate support and its implementation in the different beneficiary municipalities in the region,' said Mr. Sana.The Northern Regional Director of Water and Sanitation, Alexis Farma, said he was very satisfied with the mobilization of stakeholders around the project to Improve Drinking Water and Sanitation Services for Strengthening Resilience in the region which will last 5 years in favor of regions affected by insecurity Source: Burkina Information Agency
