Ouagadougou: The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE visited, on Thursday March 7, farms in Bagré where students are immersed in the agricultural sector. agriculture. The training is part of the Technology Incubator project in the agro-sylvo-pastoral and related fields of the National Agency for the Promotion of Research and Innovation Results (ANVAR).
The President of the Transition, faithful to his commitments, made this visit to see what is being done by students at the end of their cycle in agricultural sectors and who are in a practical phase on this strategic site.
‘We launched the initiative with the Minister in charge of higher education and you are the pioneers,’ recalled the Head of State who reassured these students of support for them, each according to its surface and material needs.
Drilling and the first kits (inputs and seeds) will therefore be made available to them at the end of their incubation, so that they can settle in and produce full time, with the aim
of food self-sufficiency.
‘We also want you to be instructors soon. What you have learned, obviously other people will come and work with you to learn so that we can broaden the base of this young agro businessman,’ underlined the President of the Transition. He also congratulated and encouraged the students for their commitment to the agricultural field.
‘We are going to make you role models so that you can be a showcase that will attract other young people to get involved (…). You will have to get other young people to take an interest in the land, to produce and transform,’ insisted Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.
Surprised and above all proud of this visit from the President of the Transition, these young students welcomed a strong act which will remain engraved in their minds while reaffirming their commitment and their choice.
Agriculture is a field that Roukia GUEBRE is very passionate about: ‘We are here, around 8 months ago. We have done the rainy campaign, and we are doing the dry campaign. We produce t
omatoes and potatoes. There is wheat that we also produce and onions.’ While appealing to other young people to join the initiative because ‘the land brings in a lot’, she hopes, at the end of the incubation, to own her own farm where she will produce a lot of speculation.
Soutonnoma Gaël SORGHO, also passionate about agriculture, plans to launch into seed production after this training. ‘I will make sure I have my business license to be able to produce and sell,’ he said.
Speaking of the visit of the Head of State, he evokes an unforgettable act. ‘I see that the highest authorities in the country are counting on us. The opportunity we had to come here was the best for me,’ said the young student.
In line with his vision for food self-sufficiency, the President of the Transition also visited a wheat field being tested on dozens of hectares in the irrigated area of Bagrépôle.
