The Saudi "Al-Irada for the Care and the Rehabilitation of the Disabled" association announced the opening, for the first time, of applications for the "Ammar" award aimed at supporting gifted people with disabilities, for Tunisians and other Arab nationalities.

In a statement released by the association, the seventh season of the competition will be officially launched this year in Saudi Arabia, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco.

The statement indicates that registration is open until July 31 on the following website www.ammar.sa

The Ammar Award is a humanitarian initiative aimed at discovering talented individuals with disabilities, empowering and integrating them into society, as well as discovering members of the community and non-profit organisations with ideas or initiatives that serve people with disabilities. It is named after Dr Ammar Boqis, a symbol of disability and talent. The award enjoys unlimited support from His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and others. The award is known as the "Ammar Award for Supporting Creative Individuals with Disabilities."

The award has three components. The first concerns the participation of people with disabilities who have exceptional talents in various fields.

The winner of the first place champion will get an award worth 100,000 Saudi Riyals ($26.6 thousand), while the second place champion will get an award of 50,000 Saudi Riyals ($13.3 thousand), and the third place winner of 30,000 Saudi Riyals ($8 thousand).

The second part of the award is dedicated to the participation of all members of society interested in people with disabilities either through innovative ideas or projects aimed at helping them and making their lives easier. The value of this award is 25,000 Saudi Riyals ($6,600).

The third component concerns the participation of non-governmental organisations, which can contribute with their social initiatives and development projects contributing to the improvement of the situation of people with disabilities. The prize money is 50,000 Saudi Riyals ($13,300).

The jury is made up of eminent personalities from different fields coming from different Arab countries, in addition to the founder of the award Saudi Dr Ammar Bouquis, a young journalist who has risen to the challenges despite his rare disease and has distinguished himself in several media positions.
