ARP: Parliamentary Bureau examines five bills

Meeting on Friday at the Bardo Palace, under the chairmanship of Speaker of Parliament Brahim Bouderbala, the parliamentary bureau examined five bills and decided to submit them to the specialised parliamentary committees for further examination and study.

Quoted in the parliamentary press release, the bills in question concern a wide range of areas and sectors, from international financial cooperation to the revision of the penal code.

In this connection, the Bureau examined a draft organic law approving the accession of the Republic of Tunisia to the agreement establishing the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).

Following this examination, the Bureau decided to submit the draft to the Committee on External Relations, International Cooperation and the Affairs of Tunisians Abroad.

The Bureau also examined a draft organic law approving a memorandum of understanding on social security, concluded on November 20, 2022, between the Republic of Tunisia and Quebec. The parliamentary bureau decided to refer the bill to the same committee.

The Bureau also examined a draft organic law approving an agreement on the extradition of criminals between the government of the Republic of Tunisia and the government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The parliamentary bureau decided to entrust examination of the bill to the Committee on External Relations, International Cooperation and the Affairs of Tunisians Abroad.

Another bill has been submitted to the parliamentary bureau. This is the organic law revising Decree-Law No. 2011-70 of July 29, 2011, on the organisation of military justice and the General Statute of Military Judges.

The Bureau's examination resulted in the bill being referred to the General Legislation Committee.

In the same context, the parliamentary bureau decided after examination to submit to the general committee a bill amending article 96 of the penal code. This bill should be studied and reviewed by the same committee, that of general legislation.

This article relates to the penalties incurred by a public official or similar who uses his or her position and thereby procures for himself or herself and causes prejudice to the administration to obtain an unjustified advantage.
