The provincial directorate of youth and professional training of Balé trained sixty (60) vulnerable and internally displaced women from the commune of Boromo in the processing of cereals and the conservation of products non-timber forests. The learning results were presented to the administrative authorities on February 7, 2024 in Boromo.Around sixty young girls and women from the commune of Boromo learned how to transform corn, millet, sesame and néré flour into cakes and biscuits, as well as rice into couscous.They also learned how to process tamarind and monkey bread, non-timber forest products, into sweet drinks. These women now know how to transform local foodstuffs into other quality energy-producing food products, which makes them active in their financial and nutritional empowerment.According to the provincial director of youth and professional training, Moussa Séré, the beneficiaries are women in particular social situations, identified by the social services of the provincial directorate of h umanitarian action and the provincial coordination of women.The training lasted two weeks. The learners were supervised by two local trainers who were very experienced in the field of food processing.This practical phase followed theoretical sections during which participants received training modules on entrepreneurship. In addition, each participant received a certificate of participation.According to the organizers, the training is an initiative of the regional directorate of professional training, made possible thanks to the support of the project to support youth employment and skills development in rural areas (PADEJ-MR).The beneficiaries also expressed their joy and their desire to make a living from their learning, while requesting support in terms of material equipment for their activities.The closing ceremony was chaired by the High Commissioner of Balé Province, Ibrahim Boly, in the presence of local administrative authorities and the regional youth director.Mr. Boly congratulated all t he actors who made this training possible for the empowerment of the beneficiaries, who are vulnerable people.'As trained women, you are now standard bearers of transformation. You have the power to create a significant impact, contribute to the development of our communities and serve as an example for future generations,' said Mr. Boly.The speakers at the ceremony all encouraged the beneficiaries to produce and flood the local market.
