Balé: A mini-fair highlights the potential of Fara’s agricultural products

Cooperatives of producers and processors of agricultural products from Fara exhibited their know-how through a mini promotional fair organized from April 16 to 18, 2024 in Fara, as part of the project of economic and agroecological resilience of Fara implemented by the Office for the Development of Evangelical Churches (ODE). The mini promotional fair for agricultural products in Fara took place from April 16 to 18, 2024. This space for visibility and promotion of agricultural potential in the municipality of Fara is an initiative of the Office for the Development of Evangelical Churches (ODE ). For three days, producer and processor cooperatives exhibited and attracted hundreds of visitors and buyers with various basic agricultural products and processed products, the fruit of ODE support. According to ODE officials, this mini-fair is a presentation of the results acquired in the implementation of the Fara economic and agroecological resilience project (PREAF) after two years of support. The exhibitors come from 21 cooperatives benefiting from the ODE project and its partner Tearfun. These local producers and processors have benefited from capacity building, training on agroecology, advisory support and equipment. The ODE also supported cooperatives in savings and credit. The commitment of the various actors thus brought good results appreciated by local administrative authorities, beneficiaries and partners. According to the executive secretary of the ODE, Alain Bako, the project brought producers into a phase of real empowerment, change of habits, adoption of ecological agricultural practices favorable to better yields. 'We promote agroecology, we work to produce healthy agricultural products and promote the sectors,' said Mr. Bako. Thus, the mini-fair aims on the one hand to promote agricultural products and on the other hand to connect producers, processors, buyers and consumers. This resilience project, in the opinion of the beneficiaries, impacted the local community. It is in this sense that th eir representative, Mrs. Habita Guira, affirmed: 'This fair is not only a commercial space, it is a showcase of our identity, of our resilience. It demonstrates our determination to overcome obstacles, to promote our local products and to strengthen our ties.' The president of the special Fara delegation, Aloïs Ouango, expressed his admiration and gratitude to the managers of the ODE, Tearfun and all the actors who participated in achieving the project's objectives. The municipal authority also invited the beneficiaries to perpetuate the achievements of the project and to participate in the development of the local economy through quality products. The area of the bus station which hosted the exhibitions was particularly lively, as was the inauguration ceremony of the fair. Source: Burkina Information Agency
