Bougouriba: Burkina Mine Reveals Itself to the Province’s Vital Forces

Di©bougou: The cooperative society with a board of directors (SCOOP-CA/Burkina Mine) explained its vision to the driving forces of the Bougouriba province on Thursday, July 31 in Di©bougou during an information meeting chaired by the High Commissioner, Amidou Konat©.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting room of the Di©bougou town hall served as the setting for this conclave initiated by SCOOP-CA/Burkina Mine. The objective of this meeting was to present the cooperative's vision and ambitions to the driving forces of Bougouriba in order to encourage their support for a mining investment model driven by the Burkinab© themselves.

The opening ceremony featured several speeches. His Majesty Si© F©lix Ouattara, the chief of the Di©bougou region, offered blessings for the success of the project at the "City of White Earth." Traders' representative El Hadj Madi Ou©draogo hailed it as "a great opportunity to improve the business climate." Ibrahim Sawadogo, the meeting's sponsor, was delighted to see such an initiative spearheaded by Burkinab©s. Amidou Konat©, the High Commissioner for Bougouriba, said, "it is important that all participants follow this communication with interest to make the most of it."

The actual presentation was given by Burkina Mine supervisor F©lix Tao. Before an audience composed of traders, mining artisans, private and public sector workers, and students, he presented Burkina Mine's 2030 vision, its membership procedures, and its business plans.

The presentation was carefully followed. The main focus was on the possibility of becoming a shareholder in Burkina Mine starting at 500,000 CFA francs. The investment yields between 100,000 CFA francs and 600,000 CFA francs in dividends per quarter and per share.

The communicator also emphasized the importance of national ownership of mineral resources. "Burkina Faso is full of enormous potential. We must take an interest in our wealth, exploit it ourselves, and no longer allow multinationals to profit from it. We must unite, organize ourselves, and have the right information," he argued.

Created in 2022, SCOOP-CA/Burkina Mine aims to build a mining sector that is inclusive, transparent, and beneficial for communities. Already active on the ground, it plans to launch its first mining project in Gnimi, in Ioba province, in 2025.

By 2030, 10 small industrial mines and one industrial one will be operational, with an expected annual production of three tons of gold, more than 1,500 direct and indirect jobs, and an estimated contribution of five billion CFA francs to the state budget. The cooperative also intends to distribute more than 15 billion CFA francs in dividends to its members.

The session concluded with a discussion phase, during which participants' concerns were addressed and deemed satisfactory. According to the organizers, this was a first step toward collective action to ensure that mineral wealth finally benefits the country's sons and daughters.
