Ouagadougou: The Metropolitan Archbishop of Ouagadougou, Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo, on Thursday urged the Catholic faithful to be artisans of peace and love, by taking concrete actions every day.
‘I would therefore like to invite you to meditate on love as the fruit of the Nativity (Christmas),’ declared Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo on Thursday during his end-of-year message.
For him, in this difficult security situation and the many corollaries of the terrorist hydra with existential difficulties, we can often doubt this love of God for us.
To these questions that we ask ourselves during these times of difficulty, Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo invites Christians to let themselves be challenged by the image of the Christmas nativity scene.
According to him, Jesus and his parents, Mary and Joseph, who experienced difficulties since the birth of the latter to the point of being displaced in the land of Egypt, show that the suffering of the righteous is not a sign of abandonment of God.
‘It is rather an opportu
nity, a springboard that can help him grow in his faith by becoming an artisan of love in his environment,’ he stressed.
Monsignor Kontiébo invites the Christian faithful to be artisans of peace and love on a daily basis by taking concrete actions every day through forgiveness, reconciliation and charitable acts towards their neighbors.
The archbishop took advantage of this message to inform men and women of the media of the note from the bishops of the Burkina-Niger episcopal conference, following the announcement of the document on the blessing of couples in an irregular situation and those of the same sex . .
According to him, the bishops of Burkina and Niger invite the daughters and sons of the Catholic Church to remain calm and firm in the faith despite the emotion, embarrassment and concern caused by the publication of the said document. .
He insists that Catholic doctrine on marriage does not change and that the church does not approve of irregular or same-sex unions.
Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo al
so assured that the pastoral questions posed by the implementation of the document will be explored in greater depth.
Let us recall that Monsignor Prosper Kontiébo celebrated his canonical possession on December 16 at the Cathedral of Ouagadougou.
