Ouagadougou: The Golden Team association organized a sanitation day at the Arb-Yaar market this Friday, as part of the Sougr-Nooma festival which takes place from April 26 to 27, 2024 in Tanghin. 'The government has launched a project, the clean city and as a cultural association, we have decided to clean up the Arb-Yaar market in Tanghin,' said the president of the Golden Team association, Sawadogo Abdoul Aziz. According to him, this initiative will also help fight against diseases and illnesses within the market. For his part, the secretary general of the association, Hamidou Sawadogo, specified that this health day is part of the Sougr-Nooma festival organized by their association. The sponsor of the festival, Hervé Yonli, stressed that the Arb-Yaar market is a place where many items and fruits and vegetables are sold, hence his choice for this health activity. 'The work done is already beneficial because it falls within the framework of eco-citizenship, thus making the environment clean. Which has a positive impact on the lives of the surrounding populations,' he added. The president of the office of the Management Committee (COGES) of Arb-Yaar, for his part, thanked the association and its partner African initiative for its action. According to Aziz Sawadogo, it is thanks to African Initiative that they were able to acquire the necessary equipment to carry out their activity. 'Now we are going to educate women to use the garbage bins that are in the market,' said Bintou Bougma/Kaboré, seamstress in Arb-Yaar. She has also made a commitment with all the women in the market to clean up their surroundings every 6 months. For Aziz Sawadogo, Golden Team is a cultural association which trains in dance and theater and brings together people of several ethnicities in order to avoid all kinds of stigmatization in Burkina Faso. 'In this logic, the Sougr-Nooma festival aims to raise awareness among the different communities of Burkina on the promotion of peace and living together in this period of insecurity that the country is experiencing,' he confided.
