Ouagadougou: The Council of Ministers in Burkina Faso has introduced new regulations that require special import and export authorizations for a range of products. This decision, made public on Thursday, affects three import items and eight export items, aiming to comply with recent legislative changes and support the country's developmental policies.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the three new products that will now require a Special Import Authorization are soft drinks, non-alcoholic energy drinks, and non-alcoholic energy drinks. On the export side, the list includes rice and its derivatives, soybeans, peanuts with shell, shelled peanuts, tomatoes, onions, fresh mangoes, and raw honey.
Government spokesman Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo explained that the updated decree aligns with the new law concerning plastic packaging and bags in Burkina Faso. This move is also intended to bolster the Government's strategy for autonomous financing, which is crucial for advancing the agricultural, pastoral, and fishing sectors in the country.
