Burkina/Iran: The 45th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution celebrated in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou: The Ambassador of the Iranian Islamic Republic to Burkina Faso celebrated this Thursday evening in Ouagadougou, the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution in the presence of Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem of Tambéla.

‘In the bipolar world of the late 1970s, the Islamic Republic of Iran founded a new political system based on the Islamic-Iranian political philosophy, combined with Islamic Sharia laws and democracy,’ said the Ambassador. Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Burkina Faso, Mojtaba Faghihi.

Mr. Faghihi spoke Thursday evening in Ouagadougou on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution in the presence of Prime Minister Me Apollinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambéla and certain members of the government, notably the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs, General Kassoum Coulibaly.

According to Ambassador Mojtaba Faghihi, ‘the secret of the longevit
y, sustainability and growth of the Islamic Republic of Iran (since its proclamation in 1979) lies in the independence of its political philosophy and the nationalization of thought policy’.

In his opinion, ‘the adaptation and borrowing of ideas and political systems from others has never been a source of power and infallibly subjects the country importing ideas to the culture and politics of the exporting country’.

The Iranian diplomat noted that one of the signs of success (of his country since its revolution of 1979) is the improvement of its scientific position at the global level which went from ’54th place in 1996 to 15th place in 2022′.

Ambassador Faghihi stressed that the foreign policy of the government of Iranian President Ebrahim Raissi (in power since August 3, 2021) ‘consists of continuing and expanding relations with all friendly countries, priority being given to the East, Africa, Asia and neighboring countries.

Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran have maintained diplomatic relati
ons for more than four decades. The coming to power of the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré on September 30, 2022 has boosted cooperation between the two countries.

The first joint cooperation commission of the two countries was held last October in Ouagadougou. It ‘gave rise to the signing of 9 cooperation documents between the two countries in the economic, scientific, technological and cultural fields,’ he said.

The diplomat recalled that the revitalization of relations between his country and Burkina Faso allowed the delivery of humanitarian aid, notably medicines and food ‘to the Land of Integrity Men’.

Faced with the security challenge that Burkina Faso has been facing for several years, the Islamic Republic of Iran, through its ambassador, ‘encourages the patriotic and independent actions of the government of Burkina Faso in its fight against terrorism and its efforts to establish security of the peaceful people of this country.’

On behalf of the Burkinabè government, Minister De
legate in charge of regional cooperation Stella Kabré praised the excellent relations between the two countries.

According to her, the political choice made by the Islamic Republic of Iran 45 years ago can be shared with other countries such as Burkina Faso “in view of the level of development and power” that the country has achieved.

‘We have to learn from his courage and resilience in the face of the difficult international context that was imposed on him. We also have to learn from his struggle to preserve his values, in a world where we are daily harassed by external influences,’ she said.

The commemoration of Iran’s National Day ended with officials cutting the birthday cake.
