Burkina: Joseph Ki-Zerbo University launches its golden jubilee activities

Ouagadougou: Officials of the Joseph Ki-Zerbo University (UJKZ) launched activities on Tuesday as part of the celebration of its 50 years of existence. According to the president of the university, Professor Jean-François Kobiané, the celebration of the anniversary is held under the sign of the results and will be marked by a series of activities throughout the year. The golden jubilee of the first university of Burkina Faso is under the theme: 'Joseph KI-ZERBO University (1974-2024): fifty years of contribution to endogenous and sustainable development of Burkina Faso'. Professor Kobiané, who was in Ouagadougou in front of the press on Tuesday, indicated that the commemorative activities of the 50 years of existence begin on April 30, 2024 and end next November. These include, among other things, the officialization of the university anthem, the inauguration of the fiftieth anniversary monument and the launch of the Joseph Ki-Zerbo foundation. 'With the support of ministerial authorities, we plan to org anize various activities, including workshops and public conferences on the major issues and challenges of higher education and research, exhibitions and sales, an evening of excellence and an international scientific conference,' he continued. The president of the university specified that the golden jubilee constitutes an opportunity to magnify the immense contribution of his institution which participates in the development of Burkina Faso. He also called on men and women from the university to join the university community for a successful commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary. At this inaugural ceremony of the golden jubilee, all universities and major public schools paraded in the presence of personalities from the academic world and numerous students.
