Ouagadougou, The Burkinabè National Lottery (LONAB) presented Tuesday in Ouagadougou, a check for 100 million FCFA to the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment as support for the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso , noted an AIB journalist on site.
“The Tour du Faso is one of the major sporting events of our country and LONAB has always associated its image with this prestigious competition,” declared the general director of LONAB Ibrahim Ben Harouna Zarani following the signing of agreement between its institution and the ministry in charge of sports.
LONAB has decided once again this year to sponsor the yellow jersey and the national team of Burkina Faso by making a check for 100 million FCFA available to the ministry in charge of sports.
The director of the national games of chance recalls that LONAB will benefit from commercial and advertising compensation in order to promote its products and increase its visibility.
The minister in charge of sports, Dr. Boubakar Savadogo, who thanked the donor for the gesture, recognized that “with LONAB, we are a plant that grows and bears fruit.”
In previous editions, LONAB supported the Tour to the tune of 150 million. But given the security crisis, the prize pool has taken a hit.
12 countries are taking part in this 34th edition from October 26 to November 5 with 10 racing stages. The runners will cover 1207,800km and cross 7 regions.
It was the German rider Daniel Bichlmann who won the yellow jersey for the 33rd edition .
