Burkina receives 29 billion FCFA from BOAD to produce fertilizer and process its cotton locally

Ouagadougou: BOAD, the development bank of UEMOA countries, has granted two loans totaling 29 billion FCFA to finance the on-site processing of seed cotton and the production of fertilizer mineral.

Under the aegis of BOAD President Serge Ekué, the 140th session of the Board of Directors granted a loan of 15 billion FCFA to Burkina Faso to finance a project to purchase and transform 427,500 tons of seed cotton into cotton fiber. The West African Development Bank (BOAD) also accepted a loan of 14 billion FCFA to strengthen the logistical capacities of the Société d’exploitation des phosphates du Burkina (SEPB) and enable it to purchase the raw materials necessary for the production of mineral fertilizer accessible to small producers in the country.

Another loan from BOAD, worth 30 billion, will be used to expand and modernize the RN4 (Ouaga-Fada axis) including the road serving Thomas Sankara University.

On the occasion, 30 billion FCFA were allocated to the sister country of Mali to support a major irrigati
on program in the Bani basin.
