At the end of May, the Burkinabè army launched operations ''Raid du Nord'', ''NPOUDO'' and ''Boulgou 2'' which made it possible to neutralize terrorists, destroy bases and recover logistics in the areas of Ouahigouya, Center-West and Center-East
"Raid du Nord" is a large-scale military operation carried out from May 26 to 30, 2023 with the aim of sanitizing the surroundings of the city of Ouahigouya.
Led by units of the Groupement de Forces pour la Sécurisation du Nord and the VDPs of the area, the operation involved several localities including Boundoukamba, Kebakoro, Boukere, Kalo, Thiou, Nimbou, Simn Dinguiri, Koumbri and Ni-niguin.
Coordination between land forces and air vectors made it possible to identify terrorist landmarks very precisely and to carry out successful raids there.
Evidenced by the results of the operation which reports 17 terrorists neutralized. Weapons, ammunition, radio sets, motorcycles and motorcycle taxis were also recovered. No losses were recorded on the friendly side.
Operation NPOUPO took place from May 25 to 29, 2023 in the central-west region. The ground units intervened following intense artillery fire on terrorist positions precisely located thanks to the intelligence services.
Land units carried out search operations in the localities of Boum, Kalabo, Zélassé, Gossina, Nagarpoulou, Koualio and Zamo.
Closures and searches were also conducted in other localities in the same area, near Tenado.
Over the entire operation, the record recorded is as follows: – 05 terrorist bases identified and destroyed – 09 terrorists neutralized – Explosive devices defused – Weapons and vehicles recovered or destroyed – Camp equipment seized . NPOUPO is a Gourounsi term which translates the action of cleaning.
Military units have been engaged for several days in a large-scale operation called "BOULGOU 2" in the Center-East region.
The objective of this commitment is to track down the terrorists who are rampant in the area in order to restore peace among the populations and in particular on the RN16 leading to the town of Bittou.
Numerous offensive actions have been carried out since the beginning of the operation with, as a result, important victories achieved.
Several terrorists have been neutralized.
Improvised explosive devices were also neutralized during the advance of the units.
Security operations continue.
