The Director General of Land and Maritime Transport (DGTTM), Kanou Coulibaly, affirmed that the circulation of non-standard vehicles increases road insecurity with the voluntary endangerment of the life of population.

"Those who operate non-standard vehicles put Burkina Faso at risk, because the circulation of non-standard vehicles increases road insecurity with the willful endangerment of the lives of others and the accelerated degradation of road infrastructure," said the Director General of Land and Maritime Transport (DGTTM), Kanou Coulibaly.

According to Kanou Coulibaly, these are anarchically transformed trucks with two to eight axles, or even more.

“We meet them everywhere with body dimensions such as length, width and height beyond the standards,” he said.

Mr. Coulibaly informed that for any vehicle assembled, transformed or built locally or imported, before it is put into circulation, it must be subject to administrative and technical acceptance by the competent departments of the DGTTM and the Motor Vehicle Control Center ( CCVA) before it is allowed to travel on public roads.

This phenomenon has a negative impact on the national economy (large-scale fraud), without being exhaustive, the sectors identified as being the most affected are those in charge of transport, the economy, security, trade and infrastructure, a he indicated.

The Director General of Land and Maritime Transport (DGTTM), Kanou Coulibaly reassured that measures are being taken at the level of transport (DGTTM, CCVA and ONASER) with the support of the internal security forces to put an end to this other form of terrorism. .

The Director General called on the owners of transformed vehicles, who do not follow the process, to get rid of these bad practices.
