Burkina: The government wants to create a High Authority for the Coordination of Diplomatic Action (HACAD)

Executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will examine from April 16 to 18, 2024 in Ouagadougou, a draft decree creating a High Authority for the Coordination of Diplomatic Action (HACAD) , in order to promote the interests of Burkina Faso on the international scene, the AIB learned from the Burkinabe Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The creation of this body will 'strengthen our ability to navigate a constantly changing world, and promote the interests of Burkina Faso on the international scene,' indicated the chief of staff of the Minister in charge of Foreign Affairs, Dieudonné Désiré. According to Mr. Sougouri, it is imperative for Burkina Faso to have a high-level executive around the Head of State, responsible for the coordination and coherence of the country's diplomatic action. According to him, this framework will make it possible to formulate and implement effective policies and strategies in terms of diplomacy. During three days of the workshop, the actors will have the task of develo ping the various texts, in particular a decree as well as the documents necessary for the introduction of the related file in the Council of Ministers. In addition to the executives of the Ministry responsible for Foreign Affairs, this meeting, "which was intended to be inclusive", saw the participation of representatives of other ministerial departments and institutions, in particular the Presidency of Faso and the Prime Minister, inform the communication services of the ministry in charge of Foreign Affairs.
