Ouagadougou: The Minister Delegate for Security, Mahamoudou Sana, warned Internet users on Thursday in Ouagadougou about the 'malicious' use of social networks, indicating that the government will be firm in dealing with informational threats and fake news .'Alongside the terrorist threat, Burkina Faso faces an informational threat, sometimes intentional. The government will be firm in dealing with such threats, moving towards effective repression,' declared Minister Delegate for Security, Mahamoudou Sana.The police commissioner spoke Thursday in Ouagadougou, during the launch by the Central Brigade for the Fight against Cybercrime (BCLCC), of a national campaign to prevent hate speech and fight against incitement to discrimination and violence on the internet.According to Mr. Sana, the government and the BCLCC considered it appropriate to launch this national campaign to make all Burkinabè aware of this threat.The minister invited all Burkinabè to be attentive to this campaign, so that at the end of it, effective solutions can be provided to this threat.The nationwide awareness campaign will take place through posters and awareness spots designed to prevent hate speech.Broadcasting will be done in five national languages, namely Moore, Dioula, Fulfuldé, Gourmantchéma and Lobiri, through radio, television and digital platforms.The president of the Superior Council of Communication, Abdoul Azize Bamogo, welcomed the use of national languages in this project, stressing that they allow the population, massively present on social networks but not necessarily able to read, to access to this knowledge on how to use these platforms.
