Ouagadougou: The Prime Minister of Burkina, Dr Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla, explained to the Technical and Financial Partners (PTF) that Burkina no longer wants aid sprinkled or accompanied by conditionalities far from the concerns of the country. At the first meeting of the year, on March 7 in Ouagadougou, between the Government and the Technical and Financial Partners (PTF), Prime Minister Dr Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla noted that 'for years, the country has not received "lack of funding in terms of development aid (without us feeling) the results on the ground".At the start of the meeting, he called on the participants to collective introspection, emphasizing that the reasons for the failure of partnerships are multiple and complex.'Maybe it's from us or maybe it's from the aid,' he stressed, signaling the need for scrutiny from all stakeholders. The Head of Government then insisted on the need for a transition towards a more balanced and constructive partnership model. 'Wha t we are looking for from you is to provide us with assistance that can help us move from your assistance to becoming partners,' he said. This bold vision on his part highlights the desire of the Burkinabè Government to no longer be simply a beneficiary, but an active contributor to the development process. In a world where international aid is often criticized for its lack of tangible results, Dr Kyélèm de Tambèla pleaded for a more targeted and strategic approach.'We no longer want dusting. We want when you say that you are helping us, after the aid phase, that we can say these are the ways in which the population has progressed, the ways in which there has been the emancipation of citizens. We want international partners to intervene in structuring areas of the economy,' he insisted.Through this request, which reflects a legitimate aspiration for aid that is truly transformative and sustainable, the Prime Minister cited the positive example of Sino-Zambian cooperation, highlighting the success of the Zambia-Tanzania railway construction project. , called Tanzam.'If the partners really want the development of Burkina Faso, it is not up to them to propose their framework, but to come and tell us, what are your needs, we can intervene in which sectors to really be useful to you today and tomorrow and that's when we can walk together,' insisted the Prime Minister. He also expressed the hope that the Government-PTF meeting would be a turning point in multilateral cooperation.'If your intervention is structuring, whatever the political hazards of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, we will always be partners, but if your intervention is not structuring, it will be volatile,' he expressed. For him, there are several priority sectors in Burkina Faso which require investment.'For structuring projects, we have them in spades, we have roads, railways, airports to build, universities, schools, health centers to build, and in the present moment the fight against terrorism,' noted the Head of Government.More over, he underlined the imperative of peace and security to allow the country to move towards development. He expressed his concern about the refusal of certain international partners to provide assistance in restoring security, an essential element to guarantee stable investments.'Before rolling out all the structuring programs, we need peace and security, because without security, there is no secure investment,' he explained, before indicating that the partnership with foreign countries should be oriented towards real cooperation, taking into account the specific realities of Burkina Faso. And the Prime Minister continued: 'You have to know how to adapt, you cannot come and intervene in Burkina Faso with the same slots and criteria as in countries which are not in a situation of insecurity.'After also highlighting the priorities of his Government, namely security, the rebuilding of the State and development, he stressed that the elections will be organized only if they contribute to achieving these ob jectives, thus rejecting the idea of hold elections for the simple democratic exercise.'We will no longer hold elections for the sake of elections, there must be an objective. We must get our country out of this cycle of poverty in which we have been for a long time. We must be clear, if elections were a means of development, we would already be developed. We don't organize elections to organize, we organize elections to achieve an objective. It is when we are politicians without objectives that we organize elections for the sake of elections. We are not politicians, we are men with a mission,' he clarified. As the country finds itself at a decisive moment in its history, facing multiple challenges, the Prime Minister called for more authentic and pragmatic international solidarity.'We believe that international partners will have to adapt to our situation and take it into account in their relationship with Burkina Faso,' he expressed, thus highlighting the need for a flexible and adaptive approach in co operation. international.Source: Burkina Information Agency
