Ouahigouya, Hundreds of young people took to the streets on October 16, 2023 to demand the return of the administration to the town of Titao, noted an AIB journalist.
Chanting slogans of support for the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the young people asked him to do everything possible for the return of the administration to the town of Titao as soon as possible.
According to the demonstrators, the absence of technical services, particularly health and education, in the city further complicates the lives of the population.
“Without education and health, life in Titao has become very difficult for us,” said Aminata Ouédraogo, protesting.
»We want teachers and health workers to come back. If the administration returns, we know some of our concerns will be addressed. » she added.
According to Zakarie Niampa, member of the organizing committee, strong actions must be taken to liberate the province. “We ask that President Traoré commit his forces to a large-scale operation that will sweep from Titao to the Mali border,” he indicated.
As for Oumarou Kagoné, youth representative, “Titao needs the road to be cleared and paved, the telephone networks to be reestablished, and the administration to return to the city. »
He says “require national authorities to take head-on the concerns of the locality”. The demonstrators gave a two-week deadline for the return of the administration to the province. »
As a reminder, the Loroum province is going through a difficult security situation which has caused the departure of the administration since December 2021.
