Ouagadougou: Burkinabè living in Cameroon have confided to the Minister of State in charge of the Civil Service, Bassolma Bazié, their wish to see a Cameroonian consulate erected in Burkina Faso, in order to facilitate travel between two countries.Exposing their concerns to the Minister of State, Minister of Civil Service, Labor and Social Protection, Bassolma Bazié, the Burkinabè living in Cameroon stressed that the absence of a Cameroon consulate in Burkina Faso limits exchanges between the populations of these two countries.The fact that Burkina Faso has a consulate in Yaoundé while Cameroon does not have one in Burkina Faso, 'does not facilitate the journey of Burkinabè wishing to come to Cameroon', noted the president of the Burkinabè of Yaoundé, Pr Hamidou Koné, quoted by Minister Bassolma's communications services.The Burkinabè diaspora living in Cameroon raised other concerns including the lack of identity or travel documents (passports and identity cards) and the difficulties in renewing these documents when their validity date expires.Through collective or individual contributions to the peace effort, subscription to the Community Shareholding initiative) and transfers of funds to their families, Burkinabè living in Cameroon provide notable support for the development of their country.They are made up of international civil servants working in UN organizations, international NGOs, sub-regional organizations, etc. ; workers in the informal sector (commerce, crafts, gold panning, drivers, and various activities such as guarding, motorcycle taxi drivers. It also includes priests, religious sisters, students and interns, as well as Cameroonian wives of Burkinabe origin.Minister Bassolma met them on the sidelines of the open days of the African Regional Labor Administration Center (CRADAT) of which he is the current president of the Board of Directors.Source: Burkina Information Agency
